A key aspect in addressing hepatitis B is ensuring patients are vaccinated against the virus to prevent contraction of the disease. For each patient screened for the hepatitis B virus, HBI-DC tests additionally for the presence of a vaccine (the hepatitis B antibody) within the patient. Patients identified as needing vaccines are then provided additional resources on the importance of vaccination and locations to receive these services. HBI-DC is proud to partner with local pharmacies, clinics, and physician networks to provide free or low-cost vaccines to these identified patients.

Hepatitis B Initiative of Washington DC (HBI-DC) is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Our organization’s mission is to mobilize communities to prevent liver diseases caused by viral hepatitis among Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, African immigrants, and other high-risk groups.
